P2B Regulation
Know the rule before it knows you.
Marketplaces and app stores must treat business sellers transparently.
What it is
The P2B Regulation requires online marketplaces, app stores and search engines to use plain terms with business users, explain ranking, give notice before suspending accounts, disclose differentiated treatment of their own products, and run an internal complaint-handling system.
This applies to you if
- You run a marketplace, booking platform, app store or comparison service with business sellers
- You are a business selling through such platforms and want to enforce your rights
What it asks of you
- Plain-language terms, 15-day notice of changes, statement of reasons for restrictions
- Ranking parameters disclosed; mediation and complaint handling for business users
What it costs to ignore
Enforced nationally; in the Netherlands through civil claims and ACM oversight.
Key dates
Applicable since 12 July 2020.
